The Hall of the municipality of Glyfada was filled with friends of ARCHELON, and admirers of its work for the protection of sea turtles.

They had come to attend the audiovisual presentations of the actions of the Association for 2009. More than 130 people honoured us with their presence! The Mayor of Glifada Mr. Theodoropoulos with members of the Municipal Council of Glyfada, Nikolaou, Argyraki, Dimou, Kokkoris, Spondilidis. Also members of the Association, executives, volunteers and members of the General Assembly.

We were given great joy by the presence of 8 members of the HELONOPAREA youth group, and also by the Giannakakos family that hosted the camp in their camping area in Mavrovouni.

The event began with the presentation of the program of environmental education by Niki Diogou, continued with the presentation of the activity of the rescue centre and Pan-Hellenic network rescue by Pavlos Tsaros and the presentation of the field programs in Messara, Chania, Rethymnon, Githeion, Kyparissia, and Zakynthos by Smaro Touliatou.

Presentations continued with the 2009 review by the Director of ARCHELON, Theodoros Benos–Palmer and closed with the speech of the President of the Association Dimitris Dimopoulou.

The cake was cut by the Mayor of Glyfada Yiannis Theodoropoulos and one of the many small pieces that was held by Theoni Karkoulia, responsible of the volunteers program of ARCHELON, contained the coin (flouri), with the result of her winning the present of the local intermunicipal journal NOTOS NEWS, offered by Ms. Theodora Tsitsipa (2 nights accommodation for 2 persons in Lake Plastira).

Speeches followed by guests highlighting the important work of the Association of ARCHELON offered continuously for 27 years and contributing to the protection of the coastal and marine ecosystem of the country.
