For the second consecutive year MINOAN LINES has been granted the “Venice Blue Flag” award for Environmental Awareness, from the port authorities of Venice.

The award recognizes the voluntary efforts of MINOAN LINES, whose ships sail in the marine area of Venice, to comply with international environmental standards for the prevention of pollution, moving simultaneously to a drastic reduction of emissions through the use of fuels with low impurity content in the port of the city.

MINOAN LINES has managed all these years to demonstrate its environmental sensitivity and awareness in practice, and is already certified by GERMANISCHER Lloyd with the environmental management system ISO 14001: 2004. The company’s principle is to harmonize the operation of its vessels with the delicate and fragile natural environment.

The administration of MINOAN LINES welcomes this particularly important distinction which comes to identify, in the best possible way, the basic principles of the company for the environment.
MINOAN LINES is also the Silver sponsor of ARCHELON and activity sponsor of Heraklio – Crete for 2008-2011. This ensures the protection of the Caretta Caretta Sea Turtle nests and the smooth voluntary – scientific work of studying and protecting the sensitive beaches of southern Crete.
