Students of the Peloponnese learn about ARCHELON and the marine environment

The nesting season is just around the corner and here in Kyparissiakos bay, ARCHELON is more than ready to greet the nesting turtles. Meanwhile, our educational programs just started last week, whose target audience is students of all ages. In cooperation/agreement with the schools from the general areas of Ilia and Messinia as well as from Achaia and Arcadia, students can visit us in organised excursions. As of now, we  have hosted over 150 students and are expecting a lot more in the coming weeks! This year our educational program is enriched and renewed with material specifically designed for our younger audiences. We hope to convey the message of our presentations in an engaging way through our new audiovisual material and planned activities. Students can actively learn, while having fun.

Students of the Peloponnese learn about ARCHELON and the marine environmentOur environmental program aims to educate and sensitise students and includes an array of activities. Students can learn about the Caretta caretta, marine life, and the ecosystem, with a tour of our exhibition centre and an engaging video-presentation. Later on, we head to the “field” on the beautiful beaches of the Kyparissiakos bay where volunteers and students play games that foster an educational environment. Students have fun on the beach while enjoying the warm weather. Students and volunteers leave full of enthusiasm and inspired to fulfil ARCHELON’s goals to protect the sea turtles and their habitats and educate new generations. “We do not inherit the Earth from our ancestors; we borrow it from our children.”
