From 23 to 25 May 2017, the network of Marine Protected Area Managers in the Mediterranean (MedPAN) in collaboration with the Management Agency of the National Marine Park Zakynthos organized in Zakynthos a marine turtle exchange visit. The aim of this exchange visit was to create a Mediterranean network for sharing knowledge and information on protection and management issues of sea turtles in Mediterranean Marine Protected Areas. The participants were managers of Marine Protected Areas, representatives of the public administration, academics and Environmental Organizations from almost all of the Mediterranean countries (Greece, France, Spain, Italy, Cyprus, Egypt, Lebanon, Libya, Turkey and Tunisia). Of course, ARCHELON participated actively in this important initiative! In particular, the Society presented its activities in throughout Greece, while the volunteers of the ARCHELON Zakynthos field project had the opportunity to demonstrate, during a field trip in Laganas Bay, the methodology of data collection and protection of the Caretta caretta nests.
