In recent years at the Bay of Kyparissia and specifically in its southern part, which is the core area of the sea-turtle nesting habitat, there are pointed out facts that shrink the coastal forest, destroy the dunes and create “land-plots” for construction and sale.

The alarm signal came from sensitized citizens who noticed an immobilized turtle at the surface off Tsilivi beach in Zakynthos. The Coast Guard notified ARCHELON and its volunteers moved immediately to the spot. The turtle was dead wrapped in a mess of fishing lines which were caught in rocks at the bottom of the sea.
