Each year, ARCHELON's summer field programs commence, following the completion of the Field Leaders Training Seminar, who are ready for action, traveling to Caretta caretta sea turtle’s most important reproductive habitats of our country for the purpose of studying and protecting them.

In view of the forthcoming nesting in just one month, the ARCHELON Association travelled to Crete with the aim of recalling compliance with management measures for the conservation of the sea turtle and its breeding habitats, as well as informing the local authorities of Crete about the transnational European program LIFE EUROTURTLES.

Thousands of civilians raised their voice at the Break Free event and walked together, claiming a peaceful, safe and dignified future for the planet. With flags, banners and by forming a peace sign with their bodies, with the Acropolis in the background, they sent a sonorous message against climate change, injustice and inequality by creating a powerful, peaceful and determined wave of change.

Coastal Carolina University (CCU) is hosting ARCHELON in its International Internship/Study Abroad Expo today on Tuesday February 7, 2017 between 10am-2pm. ARCHELON thanks to Taylor is presenting our volunteer opportunities to students of CCU seeking international experiences.
| ||AMVRAKIKOS GULF: AN IMPORTANT AREA LINKING LOGGERHEAD HABITATS IN THE MEDITERRANEAN|
After 14 years of marking 700 turtles with flipper tags and of applying satellite transmitters, it was concluded that the loggerheads foraging in Amvrakikos Gulf reproduce mostly on Greek nesting beaches and mainly in Zakynthos.

When you hear the phrase ‘Caretta caretta nesting beaches’, most people think of Zakynthos, the Peloponnese or Crete. While these are the main nesting areas for the turtles in Greece, they do nest in other places throughout the country as well.
