A collaboration with the University of Patras
A research collaboration of ARCHELON with Professor Dimitris Koliopoulos at the Department of Educational Sciences and Early Childhood Education, University of Patras began in the spring of 2019. The aim is a multifaceted evaluation of the environmental education program at the Sea Turtle Rescue Center of ARCHELON.
Fortunately, the data necessary for the compilation of the questionnaire were already collected from teachers who accompanied students to the Rescue Center before the pandemic. Their evaluation showed some early results which are very interesting, encouraging and positive for our work, as well as allowed the elaboration of the final questionnaire. The final data collection for our research will take place as soon as school visits and educational activities resume.
On the occasion of this collaboration, Anna Kremezi-Margaritouli and Olga Dretakis from the Environmental Education Committee of ARCHELON were invited by Professor D. Koliopoulos as speakers at the course "Museology of Natural Sciences" at the Department of Educational Sciences and Early Childhood Education.
The lecture took place online on 30/11/20 and lasted 2 and a half hours. Olga described the project of ARCHELON on the nesting beaches of Lakonikos bay and enthusiastically transferred the experience from her participation. Anna developed all aspects of ARCHELON's educational work and its relationship with teachers of all educational levels.
20 third-year and fourth-year students participated with great interest. The majority were interested in voluntary participation in the programs of ARCHELON.
ARCHELON invites volunteers and accepts students for internships in all its projects. You can see the projects on our website www.archelon.gr For more information contact the Volunteer officer, Chara Papailiou. email: email@example.com.
