P100 – Planet Technopolis hosted environmental activities
A dedicated team of ARCHELON volunteers participated in the children's festival P100-Planet Technopolis with great success! Our young friends emerged as adventurous hatchlings, following the difficult path from nest to sea with some luck and our huge dice.
All kids managed to put the life cycle of the loggerhead in order, by recognizing the stages from real photos. They really impressed everyone, including their parents. We also heard from other witnesses that many kids successfully used ARCHELON’s booklet "Caretta" to find sea turtle nesting sites around the world. They were also lucky to explore documentation from the green turtle nest, the first one ever, that was found on Crete last July. There were painting made, hidden words discovered and on Sunday noon, there was a live connection with ARCHELON’s team In Kyparissia who were excavating a nest.
“We had a great time with you and look forward to meeting again on Planet Technopolis next year”! said Katerina Tsikalaki, the education officer of ARCHELON before they left.
And some interesting information for teachers
ARCHELON's educational programs for the new school year have begun!
Students of all grades can visit the Sea Turtle Rescue Center in the 3rd Marina of Glyfada daily, see the turtles under treatment and participate in a presentation-discussion about nature's functions and its importance.
ARCHELON will host your school group (up to 50 children) in specially designed educational areas and the duration of the program is approximately 75 minutes.
