Injured or sick sea turtles from all over Greece are transported to ARCHELON’s Sea Turtle Rescue Centre in Glyfada, Attica. After their recovery and rehabilitation, the animals are released back to the sea. The release for each recovering animal is a very special and emotional moment for the Rescue and Rehabilitation Team and ARCHELON’s friends.

This turtle returned to the sea after several months of treatment for her carapace and head injuries. «Sharing the moment with us were people from MY PLANET, a company that supports ARCHELON with the donation of cleaning products, friendly to sea turtles and the environment» says Dimitris Fytilis, the Rescue Centre Manager. “We also need to thank AVRAMAKOS PROMOTION, the company that donated the diving suits which protected our divers from the stinging purple jellyfish!” he adds.

Second in line to be released was “Yoda”, which had been found in Samos Island with hypothermia and pneumonia in October 2021. The turtle returned home safely on June 27, in the presence of representatives from ERGO HELLAS. With their enthusiastic initiative, the facilities of the Rescue Centre will be upgraded through the support of "ERGO Insurance Co”. We are grateful!
