Turtle-y Terrific Caretta Cakes!

Turtle-y Terrific Caretta Cakes!

ARCHELONʼs efforts to protect the Loggerhead sea turtles habitats, nests, hatchlings and injured adults, relies heavily on the support of volunteers and donations, indeed they are vital! As an NGO, non-profit organisation, financial support directly feeds specific activities such as maintenance of the Rescue Centre, the upkeep of its shelled patients and equipment for all of the projects! So if you are thinking of fundraising ideas to raise awareness and perhaps some donations for ARCHELON, why not something simple like a cake sale?

My Archelon Experience

My Archelon Experience

During my Archelon experience, I attended, in total, five projects for a period of just over 4 months. I learned so much during that time and I am so happy that such an organisation exists. Finding a group of people that loves these animals as much as I do and are dedicated to giving up their time to save them humbles me to the highest degree.

Although the amount of physical difference our efforts made is miniscule in relation to the size of the issue, we did make a small difference. Entanglements were removed from the sea. Hundreds of plastic bottles and items of trash will now not be eaten by turtles this year. Everyone on the trip was stuck by David Whiteʼs statement ʽbehind every piece of rubbish is a human faceʼ.

Teachersʼ seminar, November 3rd, 2013

On Sunday, November 3rd, a seminar for teachers was held at the ARCHELON Rescue Center, entitled “INCITEMENT - CREATIVITY AND INNOVATION IN ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION (CASE STUDIES)”.
The aim of the seminar was to highlight the alternative - creative approaches to environmental issues and to exchange our educational experiences. The presentation of applications in the classroom or the field was the best method for our teachers to introduce their method and make it more easily understood by the public and with which method the environmental issues can be approached.
